Apple’s MagSafe technology has changed wireless charging for the better. We first saw MagSafe in the iPhone 12 when a ring of magnets on the back was added to help align compatible wireless chargers and provide faster wireless charging to the iPhone lineup. Not to mention, the magnets make it easy to attach and hold accessories like MagSafe wallets and mounts in place.

With the release of iOS 17, MagSafe charging got even better thanks to the addition of StandBy. This new feature turns your iPhone into a smart display, showing widgets, notifications, and even your favorite photos while your phone is charging. Since StandBy requires your iPhone to be turned sideways, it’s better suited for MagSafe stands.

Twelve South’s latest MagSafe stand, the HiRise 3, is the first Apple-approved MagSafe charger to feature a black charging disc, blending in with the rest of the charger. On the front of the charger is an Apple Watch charger that’ll fast charge your watch. The pad can lie flat or fold vertically, depending on your personal preference.

The main pedestal for charging your iPhone is in the middle of the stand, rising far above the base, giving you plenty of space to attach even any model of the iPhone Pro Max without getting in the way. It’ll charge your iPhone at MagSafe’s full speed of 15W. Behind the stand is a flat area that’s equipped with a 7.5W Qi charging pad that’s ideal for charging your AirPods, or if you have any other Qi-compatible device like a second phone.

Apple

There isn’t a whole lot to Apple’s very own MagSafe Charger. One end of the cable is a MagSafe charging disc, with a USB-C connector on the other.

You can plug the charger into any USB-C port, be it your computer, a power bank, or a wall plug, to charge your iPhone wirelessly. However, you’ll want a charger capable of at least 20W of output (such as the $14 Anker 511) to get the full 15W charging speed.

Apple’s MagSafe charger is small, compact, and easy to leave on your desk, nightstand, or even thrown in a bag to take with you on an overnight trip. It’s also one of the most affordable approved by Apple options.

Speaking of trips, the Mophie 3-in-1 travel charger with MagSafe is a fantastic replacement for Apple’s now-discontinued MagSafe Duo Charger. It comes in a stylish carrying bag with spots for the included 30W wall adapter and USB-C to USB-C cable to power the entire pad. That’s right, for the $150 price you get everything you need.

Once you unfold the charger, you’ll see a standard 15W MagSafe charging pad for your iPhone, an Apple Watch charger, and a dedicated pad for Apple’s AirPods.

When you’re ready to pack it back up and go home, fold it up, place everything in the bag, and you’re all set.

Nomad

Nomad’s Base One Max is one of the best-looking MagSafe charging stations money can buy. It features a hefty, metal base with a glass top in either carbide (black) or silver.

There are three dedicated charging spots on the Base One Max. An Apple Watch charger on the left is locked vertically, which makes it easy to see your watch’s screen while it’s charging, and behind it is a Qi-enabled pad that is perfect for AirPods. Nomad’s reserved nearly the entire right side for your iPhone with a MagSafe charging pad that pushes out 15 watts for fast charging.

Inside the box is a USB-C to USB-C cable, but you must add a 30W USB-C wall adapter to power the entire base station. Nomad’s Base One Max is a premium option but would look great on a nightstand or desk.

Looking for something that doesn’t take up a bunch of space, or don’t own the Apple trifecta of an iPhone, Apple Watch, and AirPods? Belkin’s BoostCharge Pro 2-in-1 MagSafe charging stand is exactly what you need.

It’s a compact stand that features a MagSafe charging disc for the iPhone, and just below that is a Qi-enabled charging pad for your AirPods. The stand comes in either black or white.
